How to find Putbus and the Isle of Rügen
Travelling by car
When travelling by car, there are three possibilities to get to the island: Via the new Rügen bridge offering a fantastic view over the island, via the Rügendamm or via car ferry from Stahlbrode (on the mainland) to Glewitz (Rügen). We recommend to get yourself informed about the current traffic situation - especially during the peak season - in order to choose the route free from traffic jams, which could unnecessarily prolong your journey.
Stralsund - Bergen - Putbus
Coming from the motorway A20 via the distributor road to Stralsund, please follow the directions to Sassnitz/Insel Rügen. You will automatically be lead over the new Rügen bridge and drive straight ahead in the direction of Bergen (B96). About 4 km before reaching Bergen you turn off right and continue on the B 196. In Bergen, you turn off right onto the road to Putbus at the third traffic light. Arriving in Putbus, you turn off right after 50 metres into Berger Straße. Our apartment house is situated at the right side of a small square at the end of the road.
Stralsund - Garz - Putbus
Coming from the motorway A20 you take the distributor road to Stralsund. Before driving onto the new Rügen bridge, please turn off right and follow the directions "Hafen Ozeaneum", which brings you to the Rügendamm. Directly after the Rügendamm you turn off right heading towards Garz and Putbus. From now on you will find Putbus posted on every (relevant) road sign. Arriving in Putbus you turn off left in front of the theatre at the market place. After 200 metres you turn off right into August-Bebel-Straße. The street leads into a small square with trees growing on it. Our apartment house is situated on the other side of the square.
Glewitz - Garz - Putbus
Having left the car ferry in Glewitz you drive on until you reach the city of Garz, where you follow the main road. Pay attention to the road signs: Putbus will be posted on every (relevant) sign from now on. Arriving in Putbus you turn off left in front of the theatre at the market place. After 200 metres you turn off right into August-Bebel-Straße. The street leads into a small square with trees growing on it. Our apartment house is situated on the other side of the square.
